Who we are
ShackWiki (https://shackwiki.com) is run by Mick, 2E0CPU. You can contact us at [email protected].
The calculators
All calculations run in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to us or stored. If you use "Use my location", your browser asks permission first, and your position is used only on your device to work out your grid square.
The Morse code decoder processes audio files and microphone sound entirely in your browser. Nothing is recorded, uploaded or kept.
We save two settings in your browser's local storage: whether you chose light or dark mode, and the locator you last entered on the grey line map. They never leave your device.
Advertising
This site doesn't show adverts at the moment. If that changes, this page will be updated first to explain the cookies involved and how to opt out.
Other services
- NOAA and NASA provide the live space weather data and sun images on the band conditions page. Your browser requests them directly from their servers.
- OpenStreetMap provides map tiles on the grid locator and grey line pages. Your browser requests them from OpenStreetMap's servers.
- Hosting: our web host may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and pages requested, for security and reliability.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you and ask us to delete it. As we don't collect personal data directly, this will usually concern data held by the services above. Contact us at [email protected], or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
